ABC Grow Healthy Program
Improving Nutrition and Physical Activity Standards in SC ABC Child Care Centers
The ABC Grow Healthy initiative is a joint effort between the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the SC Department of Social Services ABC Child Care Program to establish and implement new nutrition and physical activity standards in South Carolina Level B child care centers.
The ABC Grow Healthy Initiative will recognize and incentivize child care centers that are committed to the health of children in a quality environment. Policy changes will support child care centers to improve their quality regarding the nutrition and physical activity health of the children they serve.
The new nutrition and physical activity Level B standards, based on the results of a pilot with 19 sites, will be adopted statewide early in 2012. Level B centers that have made a commitment to improving the health of their children through policy and practice changes will be recognized.
We want South Carolina’s youngest children to eat smart, move more, and grow healthy!
